Biophysics Life and Living Systems

I know I'm a living system because my organs are working together to keep me alive.  I am a system within a system.  I am a part of the Earth system.  I provide carbon dioxide.  I believe that I'm reaping most of the benefits of being in this system.  The beauty makes me want to be a humble servant of this system that allows me to live.  There's something sacred about the big picture, the big biosystem.

Physics Synchronicity

I was on a pay phone in Canada talking to my sister.  She was telling me that my dad had died a few days ago.  The pay phone I was using was facing a convenience store.  As I talked with my sister, I watched a man that looked like my dad, walk out of the store.  There was a strange feeling as I watched this man.  I couldn't take my eyes off him.  It was an experience that stays with me.  This kind of synchronicity opens up all kinds of possibilities and magic and fun!

Biology- Bison

Reintroducing the American Bison has great benefits to so many people as well as the land.  The philosophy of the bison needs to be reintroduced as well.  The mindset needs to be changed as well, other wise there will be more problems.  The balance of the land needs to be maintained.  If the bison can join in the system, then it will thrive. When the bison thrives, the people and the land will thrive as well.  A beautiful philosophy of the bison is that it gives everything up.  It gives it's whole body to be used to something, so that the people may live.  The hide, organs, meat, bone...all of it is used by the people.  I would like to be as useful.

Biology- Ecosystems

The ecosystems are both strong and fragile just like our bodies and our earth.  We are strong as a unit, and weak as a piece of the whole.  This is similar to one person boycotting a store and a country boycotting a company.  The duality and balance is yin and yang.

Biology- TCM approach to cancer

The TCM approach views cancer as an invader.  Depending on where the body is diseased, determines where the practitioner will work.  The meridians will be strengthened and supporting organs will be as well.  The body is seen as a whole and the pieces of the whole are taken into consideration in the healing process.  The emotional body is addressed as well in TCM.  For example, anger will present in the liver.  This system is looking at the whole body and it uses the whole body to heal itself.

Biology- living and non living systems

I don't know if we should distinguish between a living and non living system.  Everything has energy and that's what sticks in my mind.  I think of stones and would they be considered living or non living?  Are the elements ( fire, earth, air & water) living or non living?  I don't think it's a good idea to separate them because then we're not looking at the whole system.

Biology Gaia Theory

I love the Gaia Theory.  I don't see this as a theory, I see this as a philosophy.  This resonates with the Native American philosophy of all things are connected.  I believe that there will be a point of correction when the Earth will self correct.  That might mean earthquakes, tidal waves, fires....somehow, she will take care of herself.  Just like any mother, she has to take care of herself before she can take care of anything else.

Biochem - Human Intent

The power of intention is enough to change our cells in our bodies.  QiGong and TaiChi do the movements and breathing techniques that make physical changes in their bodies.  I see that as intention.  Maybe visualization is the same thing.  I've only heard of people using it as a way to heal themselves.  I wonder if it can be done in tandem, that way the power can be doubled and possibly the healing can be more efficient.

Biochemistry- Bionic

I don't feel comfortable with a bionic person.  Maybe I don't know enough about it.  There's just a point where I prefer humanity instead of technology.  I can appreciate the importance of having an artificial arm or leg, especially for the military.  I don't know how many appendages equals a bionic person.  Are the organs being duplicated?  At which point is it too much?  When it starts to involve reasoning might be too far for me.

Chemistry -Loafing

There is an art to loafing.  I know some people that make it look almost graceful.  I tend to think too much.  I know there are many things that need to get done and when I sit down, the list runs in my head.  Loafing is hard work. It takes practice to relax. Mind and body chill.

Chemistry Elecrtrochemistry & Alchemy

Alchemy- science, magic or art.      What I like about alchemy is the flexibility of it.  It can fit into science, magic or art.  I think it's all three.  I see acupuncture in a similar way.  Acupuncture uses the meridians that are not part of the Western medicine world.  It doesn't fit under just one category.  There's also a sliver of ambiguity in it.  It's like leaving the door open for something magical.  I like leaving a piece of unknown in the equation.  Do we need to know everything?  Do we need to dissect and examine every little piece of everything, and name it!?

Chem Wk 4 Chemisty of Color & Nutrition

I looked in the refrigerator and didn't find as many colors as I thought I would.  It seems I don't eat too many green things.  I had some purple (grapes) and blueberries.  I also had white, which was the jicama.  There wasn't anything else.  The rest of the food was in containers.  I don't usually have a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables.  I buy them as I eat them.  They seem to go bad pretty quick.  One thing that this has brought to my attention is that I don't eat enough of raw food.  The color is another element, because I usually buy the same things: lettuce and cukes.  I think I better improve my colors.
